Close to the buzz of Leytonstone and the wilds of Wanstead Forest, this standout two-bedroom garden flat is destined for entertaining.

Steele Road, Leytonstone, 2 Bed. Flat

Under offer

Our home is the perfect midway between urban convenience and natural surroundings; a stone's throw away from the lush Wanstead Forest and minutes from vibrant Leytonstone.

We especially love the high ceilings and original wood floors that add character to every room. Plus, the garden - an extension of our living space during the summer - is a haven filled with climbing jasmine, honeysuckle, and olive and eucalyptus trees. It's a private oasis for relaxation and intimate gatherings with friends.

Weekends are spent exploring the nearby woods and lakes, followed by a cosy drink at the Hollytree pub. There's a wealth of convenient amenities such as fresh milk and bread delivered by Parker Dairies, artisan goods at Yardarm and Marmello on Francis Road, and a Sunday farmers' market featuring The Dusty Knuckle and fresh produce from local sellers. We love London and East London especially, but after 15 years, we're moving out to Cambridgeshire to be closer to family and the countryside.

Getting around:
Steele Road sits between SIX stations, making it incredibly well-connected. The three we think you'll most often use are Leyton, which is on the Central Line; Maryland, on the Elizabeth Line; and Leytonstone High Road, on the Overground. You can get just about anywhere via these three hubs. However, you also get the bonus of being close to Stratford and Stratford International, which opens up the Jubilee Line, DLR and others. Think Kings Cross in under 25 mins or Margate in 1 hour 39 mins.

Future plans:
After 15 years of living in London, the owners are moving out to Cambridgeshire to be closer to family.

Anything else:
Did we mention the flat has its own front door? No more awkward communal hallway chats or battling where to store your bike.

Set on the ground floor of a Victorian end-of-terraced house, the current owners have lovingly updated this beautiful two-bedroom garden flat, bringing colour, texture and unmistakable style.

The whole property feels warm, welcoming and surprisingly modern. It's also practical. The main bedroom is at the front, with a bay window overlooking Steele Road and a majestic, working fireplace. Adjacent, you find a second double bedroom with a bank of built-in wardrobes and garden access through French doors. Past the bathroom to the back of the flat, there is an open-plan kitchen and living room which also connects to the garden. This gorgeous communal space includes sleek plywood units, plenty of room for dining and a large roof-light and double doors opening out onto the lush courtyard. The final perks are found here: a side gate, providing access to the street and a handy shed. Perfect for taking out the rubbish or bringing in bikes.

Sitting on the corner where Steele Road and Belton Road meet, you are close to the beating heart of Leytonstone. Loved for its eclectic and numerous places to eat & drink, a deluge of transport options and a surprising amount of green space –– the open spaces of Wanstead Flats are reachable in about five minutes by bike.
