THE LEGAL BIT
While we strive to create true-to-life photographs, floor plans and descriptions, our marketing material is only a guide. Purchasers should always visit in person, ask relevant questions and triple-check details. Brickworks takes our duty of care incredibly seriously and takes all reasonable steps to ensure all presented information is correct. However, we sometimes rely on the accuracy of the information provided to us by the seller and others. Also, please note that we often round up/down total floor plan measurements and/or use approximate distances.
BRICKWORKS SAYS
Tucked away on the top floor of an attractive red-brick mansion block, this one-bedroom flat has a lovely sense of its own identity. Designed in 1922 by E C P Monson, also responsible for Islington Town Hall, the building has character and history in abundance. Inside, a considered layout sees every room lead off a central hallway, while views over the surrounding trees provide a welcome change of scenery from the city beyond.
The current owners have renovated with a thoughtful hand, bringing things up to date without losing sight of the flat’s roots. Bespoke joinery in the open-plan living space and bedroom keeps everyday clutter out of sight, while made-to-measure shutters add both style and practicality. Fresh paintwork, new heating and updated electrics take care of the less glamorous details, leaving little to do but move in and make yourself at home.
Peckett Square feels wonderfully set apart, yet Islington’s best bits are close at hand. There’s excellent coffee and cake at Profile and Finks, Italian provisions, a proper cheese shop, Highbury Vintners and Da Mario’s. N5 Kitchen is nearby too, as are Perk gym and independent yoga studio Lim. There’s open-water swimming at the reservoir, too. Plus, easy connections into and around town, when you need them.
THE OWNERS SAY
The flat has a wonderfully peaceful feel and has been a proper home for us in London. We’ve loved looking out over the trees, particularly watching the leaves change with the seasons, and making the most of the outside space, including growing cut flowers on the allotment.
What makes this place truly special is its community. Highbury Barn is just around the corner, with a genuine village feel — a little like a mini Hampstead. Strolling along the high street, you soon get to know the familiar faces, from the butcher and dry cleaner to the owners of the coffee shops and Blossoms greengrocer.
We’ve had a wonderful few years here and will be very sad to leave. There’s honestly nowhere else in London we’d rather live.
