This two-bedroom flat with beautiful back garden merges bold design with period details to create a truly one-of-a-kind space in family-friendly Palmers Green.

Grovelands Road, Palmers Green, 2 Bed. Flat

Every room of this home has a distinct personality, yet the flow is consistent and serene, punctuated here and there by remarkably preserved period features. Jewel-like stained glass, stately fireplaces and elegant sash windows set off a colour palette that subtly shifts as you move around.

There’s something to take from each part: the statement wallpaper from the bay-fronted living room, the pop of contrasting colours in the shower room, or the oh-so-pretty (and practical) bed surround in the spare room. Each carefully considered detail is a testament to the cohesiveness of the whole, making this a warm, welcoming sanctuary in an equally friendly corner of north London.

Like many of the best neighbourhoods, Palmers Green feels like a village within a city. Green Lanes—with its high-street conveniences, pubs, cafes and some of London’s finest Greek and Turkish restaurants—is what links everything together, but the calming, green spaces of Broomfield and Grovelands Parks are never far away. There’s mainline rail service from nearby Palmers Green station, putting the City and Liverpool Street about 40 minutes away, and easily connects you to the Victoria and Piccadilly lines if you want to catch the tube.

We fell in love with this house from our first viewing—especially with the French doors leading out the master bedroom to the gorgeous big garden. The house is full of quirks, it is a fun property to live in, and we have enjoyed putting our own stamp on it too.

There are a plethora of brunch spots and places for dinner in Palmers Green and the neighbouring Winchmore Hill and Southgate. We love Starfish, at the bottom of the road; it never fails to impress! There is a fantastic choice of woodlands and parks nearby for running, walking, and entertaining kids. We feel so lucky to have started our family in such a beautiful part of London, and we hope the new owners love it as much as we have.
