We’ve loved living here and will be sad to move on. We were initially attracted to the area because of the great transport links of Turnpike Lane and Hornsey on the doorstep, but over the years, we discovered more and more of what Haringey has to offer.

We love to grab a coffee and pastries from Music & Bean at the weekend and walk over to Ally Pally. In the evening, the Picturehouse cinema in Crouch End is close enough to reach on foot, and you can grab a late Turkish dinner from one of the many excellent restaurants on Green Lanes.

The grand establishment that is The Salisbury harks back to the days when the area was rather well-to-do. It’s both a relief and a delight that despite various refurbishments over the years, no one has gone and done anything silly like ripping out the original Victorian saloon bar and décor. A wonderful pub. And even more special when you can call it your ‘local’.

4 The Harmless Store

An idea whose time has most definitely come, The Harmless Store is a vegan grocery store that stocks provisions with minimal packaging. Bring your own containers for grains, cereals, nuts, coffee beans and loose teas, snacks, sundries and everything else you need to stock your new pantry.

5 Tomo Pizzeria

On Hornsey High Street, this is the best local Italian around for lunch or dinner. Seriously delicious grub – the pizza is amazing – and friendly staff who are happy to accommodate even the messiest child with grace, make this such a grat place to visit. The menu changes regularly too, which keeps things interesting, but we always seem to have the calamari starter!
