BRICKWORKS SAYS

A lovely house in a terrific location, this three-bedroom terrace is a real charmer. Full of light and homely spaces, from the comfy hideaway of the lounge to the heart-of-the-home kitchen diner. And, from the minute you cross the threshold, you’re greeted with beautiful tiles that create unity throughout the open-plan living space, perfect for get-togethers. In the centre of the action is the kitchen island, and the range cooker will gladden the hearts of any budding chefs. Bi-fold doors blur inside and out during the summer months, extending your living space into the corner plot garden.

Upstairs the sense of satisfaction continues, with well-proportioned bedrooms. From the loft room, you can relish the views across green gardens and Victorian rooftops through the double doors.

Tree-lined Downsfield Road is in a prime position to enjoy the best of urban life. The nearby allotments bring tranquility yet you’re near enough to the Walthamstow metropolis to take full advantage of the cultural hotspots, independent bakeries and other eateries, including a street food mecca at Crate17. And when you need to walk off some of that delicious grub, head to Walthamstow Wetlands and Hackney Marshes which provide a great escape from city life.

An absolute treasure trove of baking delights. Pop down to pick up some sourdough for brunch, or perfectly picnic-sized pizza slices, but don’t leave before trying the brioche-muffins (yes, that’s what we said).

2 Table 56

Your local late-night cafe on the corner. Head down at dusk and soak up the laidback vibes until bedtime. Ale-heads will be happy with the varied selection and cocktail lovers are in very good hands!

3 Beaten by a Whisker

What a joy to have two local bakeries on your doorstep. These guys take bread seriously, and it shows. Artisan sourdough that will make you forget the sliced stuff, as well as bubbly focaccia and heavenly brownies.

4 CRATE St James Street

An entire village under one roof, bringing together tantalising street food, boutiques and community events for every age. They’ve got you covered for haircuts, vintage get-up, Korean bao buns and live country music!

5 The Chequers

Every neighbourhood deserves a good local, and the Chequers does the job nicely. An East London boozer with a twist. Wash down your pizzas n’ buffalo wings with a local craft ale, or get a full house at Drag Bingo.
