This two-bedroom garden flat is laid out over the ground floor of a grand, double-fronted building opposite Downhills Park. Decorated with character and close to all the good stuff that this pocket of Harringay has to offer, it’s an ideal first home.

BRICKWORKS SAYS

Stepping in through the private entrance, it is the configuration from the central corridor, which is so compelling, meaning you can see right through the flat; from your front door to the garden outside. It gives the space a lovely flow.

The main bedroom, which is calm and quiet, opens directly onto the gorgeous private garden. A decking area creates perfect dining space for the summer and provides ample scope for avid gardeners to exercise their green fingers.

N17 has a buzz and vibrancy about it at the moment. And brilliant transport links make it a compelling part of North London to consider if you commute regularly. This pocket close to Downhills Park is particularly exciting, with a strong community spirit. The excellent Palm pub is a short walk away, so too are the renowned Turkish restaurants along Green Lanes. Perkyns cafe on Phillip Lane is also within easy reach, as is the much-loved Sushi Heads.

THE OWNER SAYS

This flat has been such a super purchase; it’s so close to central London, but with a park across the road and two others nearby, the neighbourhood feels very ‘leafy’ at times.

The view all the way through from the front door out to the landscaped patio garden echoes the flow of the house, and in warmer weather the garden becomes another room to enjoy, with fairy lights shining and a glass of wine or two.

I love being end-of-terrace and on the corner of Belmont Avenue, which over the past few years has become a community of friends sharing information, advice and music evenings in the summer. Last year we designed a lovely mural for the side of the house, which is definitely a landmark and a great pop of colour against the green of the park behind.
