BRICKWORKS SAYS

The houses on Bedford Road are rare in terms of character and proportions, and this is one of the finest on the street. Sensitively restored by its current owners, it offers a treasure trove of features and light-filled spaces, exuding a palpable sense of the past.

Serene and spacious, the home’s three floors host many wonderful corners to potter and play. The backdrop is one of muted colours, stripped wooden boards and elegant sash windows. The house is fronted by a double reception room with soaring ceilings and detailed cornicing, plus another reception room across the grand hallway.

Towards the back, the modernised kitchen has the dining room adjacent but not open-plan, both leading to a gorgeous garden perfect for green thumbs and kids. Five double bedrooms (one ensuite) rest on the upper floors along with two bathrooms, one with double sinks, and a large dressing room. The house provides pliability for choosing what you do where –– whether you need space for a workshop, art studio, office, or music room – these walls have it all.

To those not in the know, Bedford Road is close to the bustling high streets of West Green Road, Philip Lane and Green Lanes, hosting a growing cornucopia of restaurants, pubs and independent shops. Excellent transport links are moments away, with Seven Sisters Station on the Victoria Line Underground and an overground line with direct connections to Liverpool Street Station.

The sprawling Walthamstow Wetlands, with their huge interlinking reservoirs and pathways, offer leafy nature walks – heading south will bring you to the canal-side pubs of Hackney Wick. Downhills Park is a short walk away and serves the community with a playground, tennis courts, community cafe and its very own Lavender and Rose garden. Likewise, nearby Lordship Recreation Ground and Tottenham Green Leisure Centre allow for no shortage of activities for parents and little ones alike.

THE OWNER SAYS

It has been a real privilege to live as a family in this beautiful house for the past 12 years. We have had more than enough space to all enjoy ‘a room of our own’ to develop our interests and welcome friends and family.

The garden is a beautiful, generous space to relax in, and we have loved learning how to grow things and watch nature evolve, all while being just 25 minutes from the centre of London.

We would like to remain in the neighbourhood which has welcomed us warmly and where we have made many good friends over the years.

1 The Palm

This is everything a local pub should be: craft beers/ales on tap, delicious food and bar snacks, and–to top it off–a brilliant team that runs it. Whenever we just “pop” in, we can’t help but stay for hours. Plus, we can assure you their Sunday Roast is pretty much perfect.

2 First Reform Pilates

This Pilates Reformer studio in Tottenham is open to everyone and is led by some of London's top instructors. It's a welcome addition to the area.

3 Ten to One

We jumped for joy when this cocktail bar and restaurant opened in an ex-betting shop. A Whiskey Sour in hand while watching live music and feasting on Nashville chicken wings has become a Friday tradition for many. And why not?

4 Café Lemon

A little ray of sunshine, this chilled-out café caters for every taste with an eclectic menu. Run by a friendly bunch, it has a dedicated following of locals, as the polaroids of regulars can attest!

5 Luna D’Amore

Say hello to your new local, and very tasty, woodfired pizza takeaway. This lot aren’t afraid to break the boundaries of pizza-making with regularly changing specials, but purists will be satisfied with the freshness and delicious dough.
