Found on one of Tottenham's most-loved streets, this wonderfully grand, six bedroom house is imbued with the character and history of a bygone era. A sense of Victorian elegance remains in every architectural detail, from the double-fronted facade to the sweeping central staircase.
This extraordinary home consists of five double bedrooms, one single, three grand receptions and an additional dining room plus two conservatories. In short, there is an abundance of space over three sprawling floors.
Designed by and built for the original architect of Bedford Road, the house stands at over 3,300 ft2 and is comfortably the largest on the street. The east-facing garden is deep, wide, green and plentiful with many mature trees (including a magnificent fig), a wooden playhouse and myriad shrubs and flowers.

THE OWNERS SAY
One Bedford Road has been my passion and joy. I have invested 33 years of my life carefully looking after the property and convening it like a curator of an art gallery.
Although the area has undoubtedly changed over the years, the community remains strong. It is a very special house and will always fill my heart with joyful memories.
From the moment we stepped inside, we were in awe. It is so rare and exciting to find a property of this age with the original layout virtually untouched. As you move from room to room; floor to floor, there are many surprises to be found. It is simply enchanting.
The first floor conservatory is one of our favourite rooms and certainly the most unusual. Sitting above the reception below, it would make a fantastic studio, or simply a sanctuary within, filled with plants – a nod to Kew and the palm houses of the age.
More than any one element, however, it is the scale and atmosphere which make the house so distintive. There is a sense of living, breathing cultural history within the very fabric of this building. It is, without question, one of the most remarkable houses we have ever brought to market.
POINTS TO CONSIDER
The house has an Energy Efficient Rating: E & Environmental Impact Rating: F
Part of Haringey Council, the Council Tax is approximately £2,000 a year.
This wonderful house has not been 'modernised', which is a good thing in our book and certainly part of its charm. On a practical level, however, some budget would need to be spent on some general updating. That said, the house is in good order and has been well-cared for over the years. For example, a new roof was added only a few years ago. Overall, we feel that sensitive alterations could be made without spoiling the original features and layout.
Upstairs the bedrooms are generous in size, and all but two have fireplaces. The small single room next to one of the double rooms is currently used as a study but would make a fantastic adjoining dressing room or nursery. The two attic bedrooms are connected by large, wooden doors, and there is an open plan Victorian-style toilet and sink that could easily be partitioned off to create more privacy.
This tree-lined road is quiet with hardly any through traffic. For transport links, Seven Sisters Tube is a 10-minute walk with a twenty minute journey on Victoria line trains to Oxford Circus and London Overground trains to Liverpool Street. Stratford and Enfield Town. Also, nearby Tottenham Hale has regular trains to Stansted Airport.
