BRICKWORKS SAYS

Occupying a corner position overlooking Brick Lane, this beautifully bright flat has space to breathe with three-double bedrooms, a large bathroom and a separate en-suite shower room.

Thoughtfully curated for contemporary living, the open-plan reception room has oak flooring, a sleek white kitchen and windows on three sides, providing expansive views of the bustling streets below. Inside, a neutral palette of peachy pastels and greens adorns the bedroom walls, creating a tranquil space despite its proximity to the urban buzz all around you.

Sat amongst the old warehouses and Georgian terraces of Spitalfields and Shoreditch, Bacon Street is in the heart of East London’s effervescent restaurant and bar scene. This might be central London, but there are pockets of green space everywhere, including Spitalfields City Farm, plus plenty of cultural attractions and walking, cycling, and public transport options galore.

THE OWNER SAYS

I’ve had a blast in this flat. Everything you could possibly want for is right on your doorstep. The street art changes daily; people are friendly; markets bustling and busy. Plus, there are bars and clubs galore! We love RichMix right opposite, not just for the cinema but also for all the cultural events they host.

I will miss lazily wandering down to Columbia Road on a Sunday to pick up flowers or beautiful houseplants. And… drinks with friends, roaming around Spitalfields, everyone wants to come to visit, so you barely need to leave the area.

Not to mention having been spoiled by some of the country’s top restaurants right on our doorstep. My husband and I used to joke that Jay Rayner must follow us around as, by the time he’d review a hot new place, we’d already been a few times and fallen in love with it! Lahpet, Smoking Goat, Brat and Smokestack are just a few of our favourites, right downstairs from the flat.

As for the flat itself, we fell in love with it because it’s so light and airy, plus the living room is such a wonderful place to sit with a cup of tea and a book in the morning as the sunlight streams in through the windows. We’ve had some incredible times here, and I’m going to miss it so much.

1 Brick Lane

Well-known for being the place to go for a good curry, there are also countless bars and restaurants lining the bustling street which runs from Whitechapel all the way to Shoreditch. There is a weekly market with an eclectic mix of goods for sale, street food vendors, vintage clothing shops and street art. Something for everyone, we think.

2 Columbia Road Flower Market

A bona fide institution, and by far the most colourful market in London, the flower market at Columbia Road kicks off at 8 every Sunday morning and wraps up around 3. (Pro tip: You can get fantastic two-for-£10 bunches towards the end of the day.) Browse stall after stall of beautiful blooms while popping into the shops along Columbia Road—all of which are independently owned. For pre-market fuel, hit World Barista Champion Gwilym Davies’s coffee cart on Ezra Street, just behind the market.

3 St John Bread & Wine

It’s good to have a restaurant you can rely on for a comfortable interior, good quality, simple food and delicious wine. This place really has stood the test of time, they are consistent in everything they do, and it really works, whether its breakfast lunch or dinner, its all good, particularly the welsh rarebit, and donuts to die for! It’s also very hard not to come out with a bottle of their house red under your arm.

4 Campania & Jones

This small, family run Italian restaurant is just off Columbia Road and is AMAZING. Set within a beautiful old dairy it is easily one of the most special places in the area. Indeed – we think – anywhere in London. We won't say any more, just GO. OK?

5 Morito

Morito has served arguably the finest tapas in London since it first appeared as an offshoot of Moro in Exmouth Market in 2010, and in 2016, Hackney got its very own Morito—bigger, brighter, and perhaps even better, thanks to its unique fusion of Spanish and Northern African cuisine. Try a little bit of everything (that’s the beauty of tapas, right?!), then chase it down with a full flight of sherry from the extensive menu.
